About

This Home

The Bank House is a once-in-a lifetime, one-of-a-kind loft-like mansion on Michigan Avenue in Corktown. A former bank built in 1925, this gorgeous limestone building has been completely and creatively renovated as one of Detroit’s most stunning unconventional single-family residences. Extraordinary original details include terrazzo floors, grand copper vestibule, oversized arched windows, intricate trim, and the original bank vault. With approximately 2,500 square feet and 18-plus-foot ceilings, the sprawling main living space includes an open state-of-the-art kitchen—a dream for a chef or entertainer—and the equally impressive outdoor courtyard is the perfect urban oasis for entertaining, private dinners, and outdoor living. An expansive basement offers even more additional space for a home office, gym, studio, or family room. Also included in the sale, the adjacent building—formerly a bar—is currently a fully furnished, high-performing three-bedroom income property/Airbnb, grossing more than $40,000 per year. The lot between the two buildings (included in the sale) functions as a second stylish courtyard, plus additional parking. Walkable to the newly restored Michigan Central Station and all the amenities of bustling Corktown, this up-and-coming stretch of Michigan Avenue is developing quickly— including the Detroit City Football Club stadium, AlumniFi Field, currently under construction right down the street. Beloved neighboring businesses include 27th Letter Books, Detroit Kung Fu Academy, and local favorites Ro Cham Beau, Mike’s Famous Ham Place and Ladder #4 Wine Bar.
