Lifestyle: small-town charm vs. suburban convenience
Northville feels like a classic Michigan small town. Its downtown is packed with restaurants, boutiques and community events, and much of it is set up for pedestrians. Mill Race Village preserves historic buildings, and nearby Maybury State Park offers trails and horseback riding.
Novi is built for convenience. Twelve Oaks Mall, the Suburban Collection Showplace and dense restaurant corridors along Novi Road and Grand River put almost everything within a 10-minute drive. Lakes and parks, including Lakeshore Park on Walled Lake, give Novi more outdoor options than many buyers expect.

Both communities are known for strong public schools. Northville Public Schools serves Northville and parts of Novi. Novi Community School District serves most of central Novi. Novi wins on freeway access, with I-96, I-696, M-5 and I-275 meeting near its borders. Northville is still convenient via I-275 and M-14, which makes it a strong choice for commutes toward Ann Arbor, Plymouth or Detroit Metro Airport.
